El programa se presenta como un videojuego, con niveles y una visualización de la puntuación. Contiene dos funciones complementarias, dictado musical y memoria auditiva, que permitirán desarrollar su atención, su oído y su memoria musical.

Función Dictado Musical: El programa se comporta como un profesor de música. Al principio de cada ejercicio de dictado melódico, el programa toca, mostrándola al mismo tiempo en la pantalla sobre el mástil de la guitarra o el teclado del piano, la serie de notas a la cual se referirá el dictado. Procede a continuación al dictado nota a nota: toca una nota y luego espera su respuesta, que usted puede dar como prefiera presionando ya sea el mástil de la guitarra, el teclado o pulsando sobre el nombre de las notas indicadas en la interfaz. A cada buena respuesta, el programa le concede un punto y toca la nota siguiente en el dictado. A cada serie de 15 notas sobre 16 notas reconocidas con éxito, el programa aumenta el nivel de dificultad tocando los sonidos sobre una octava suplementaria. A cada serie de 12 ejercicios que obtienen la nota de 15/16 el programa "Dictado y Memoria Musical" le hace pasar a nivel superior. En el caso contrario, el hecho de permanecer y practicar en un mismo nivel aumenta su competencia y le permite a un momento u otro de pasar al nivel siguiente.

Función Memoria Musical: Tener un buen oído es la capacidad de [re]conocer los sonidos, por eso el programa "Dictado y Memoria Musical" propone también otra actividad que se llama "Juego de Memoria Musical". En este juego, libremente inspirado del juego "Simón Dice", el ordenador muestra una tecla coloreada y toca simultáneamente una nota al azar entre la serie de notas que corresponde al nivel de dictado musical del alumno. El alumno debe entonces reproducir la secuencia de notas presionando las teclas sin equivocarse. A cada serie de notas seleccionadas con éxito, se añadirá una nota suplementaria que, de este modo, alargará cada vez más la melodía.
