CIDMage
$69.95 - Whirlwind Software
CIDMage is the first commercially-available all-software solution to the problem of generating your own custom Caller ID signals! There are lots of hardware Bell202 modems and test units on the market but all involve costly hardware - not CIDMage! All you need to do to generate Caller ID signals of your own is run CIDMage, enter the name and phone number you want, click Play and hear the signal through your PC speakers! CIDMage generates a high-quality phase-coherent FSK signal (44.1 kHz CD-quality!) that can be played live through your sound card or saved as a .WAV file for later playback on ANY PC, with or without CIDMage installed! With CIDMage you can: - Test your own Caller ID terminals - Put gag and vanity numbers and names on your Caller ID - Place demo numbers on Caller ID terminals on display for sale - Analyze and decode recorded Caller ID Signals WITHOUT EXTRA HARDWARE! That's right, you DO NOT NEED A CALLER ID MODEM! - Experiment with custom Caller ID streams - Set and clear the Message Waiting light on your phone - Send very short secret messages to a friend with a Call Waiting Caller ID device - Dozens more uses!!! All You Need: - CIDMage - A PC with a Sound Card running Windows 95 or later - If you want to Go Live on the phone system, a clean phone line interface (Radio Shack 43-228 or similar) You don't need: - You don't need a special modem - You don't need Caller ID service on your line! CIDMage can: - Generate MDMF Name and Number Caller ID - Generate Call Waiting Caller ID - Generate Number-Only Caller ID (for early CID terminals) - Generate Voice Mail Waiting Indicator signals (turn the Voicemail light on or off!) - Show you a detailed byte-by-byte breakdown of the signals it generates - Analyze and decode recorded Caller ID signals from the phone company! Take control of your outgoing Caller ID - try CIDMage today!

BREAKTRU AUTOSIM
$0 - BREAKTRU SOFTWARE
A simulation of a NYC Transit Authority train traveling by automatic signals with working stop arms. Working circuit drawings show how the signal system relays function while the train passes over track circuits. Good learning tool. Real photos used in the program design.

Surround Meter 5.1
$499 - PAS-Products
At this software it concerns a combined level and correlation meter for Surround signals for the 5.1-Standard.
The levels of all six channels as well as the phase correlation between all combinations of two channels are represented, so that defined statements are possible for the mono compatibility of a stereo and a Surround signal, in addition, for the Stereo compatibility of a Dolby Prologic signal or a 5.1-Signals in the Downmix.
PAS-Surround Meter can be configured in a number of different ways, to accurately model the ballistics, responses and graphics of a wide range of standard peak programme meters. These meters currently include the following:
IEC 268-10 Type I - Nordic N9
IEC 268-10 Type IIa - BBC PPM
IEC268-10 Type IIb - EBU PPM
DIN 45406
K-System by Bob Katz
K-20
K14
K12
Provides information about mutual phase-frequency relations between the signal of the left and right channel and allows us to spot any possible irregularities. These 'irregularities' may not have any significance in the case of stereo playback, but it should be remembered that the material we record can also be played as a mono signal (for example, on TV or on one of the radio stations which are broadcast or received in mono), and is worth sounding at least similar to what we imagined. However, you have to learn to read the indications of the correlation meter.

Strobe Sync Pulse Generator
$30 - Timo Esser
This program generates signals to test loudspeakers with the help of a synchronised LED stroboscope. The only external hardware needed is a two channel amplifier and an LED flashlight. Traditionally these tests are done with dedicated, inflexible hardware devices costing several thousand dollars or Euros. In this program the computer sound card supplies the two signals to the two channel amplifier. The speaker signal (sine wave on the left channel) is amplified and sent to the loudspeaker under test. The other signal is the light trigger pulse on the right channel. It is sent to the external trigger input of a stroboscope or it can also be amplified and sent directly to LEDs. A standard LED flashlight (British English: torch) is ideal as a stroboscope.

Sound Generator
$59 - Oleg Ya. Shmelyoff
The audio frequency sinusoidal signal generator is intended for adjusting and measuring parameters of audio equipment. Works with 16, 24 and 32 bit sound cards at sampling rate up to 384 kHz. Independent channels frequency and amplitude controls. Adjustable phase shift between channels. A step of frequency setting is 0.00001 %; level - 0.001 dB; phase - 0.001 degree. The minimum coefficient of nonlinear and intermodulation distortion, precision, stability and range of frequency are limited only by quality of the used sound card. The Sweep Frequency Mode with adjustable rate in linear or logarithmic scale. Multi Oscillators Sweep Frequency Mode. Generation of noise: white, pink (1/f), Brownian (1/f^2). Mode of amplitude modulation of one channel by another. Real time signal synthesis. Recording of synthesized signals to hard disk. The demo is completely functional, but the time of sounding is limited to 15 seconds after each clicking of the "Start" button. The registration removes demonstration limitation.
