Lightweight MP3 player with playlists

yPlay
$0 - Spacejock Software

yPlay is an MP3 player with multiple playlists and a clean interface. I find too many music players have tiny, ambiguous controls and overly complicated menu structures. I'm only interested in how quickly I can find and play a particular track or set of favourite songs. yPlay has a filter built into the main screen - type in part of the MP3 title or artist and the list will only display matching tracks. Double-click the track you want, close the player to the system tray and forget about it. Free software from the author of the Hal Spacejock series.

Traffic editor for Flight Sim 2002 & 2004

yRoute
$0 - Spacejock Software

Editing flight plans and aircraft by hand can be time consuming and prone to errors. There's something about editing a 2.5 meg text file in Wordpad which just doesn't appeal to me, so I set out to write something which would allow me to do what I wanted - namely, to populate deserted airfields with a variety of interesting aircraft. Free software from the author of the Hal Spacejock series.

Backup and copy utility with folder sync

ySync
$0 - Spacejock Software

Backup and copy utility with folder sync. Can be used via the GUI or command line, and includes variables to create destination folders based on date and time. Free software from the author of the Hal Spacejock series.

Countdown timers with audio alert and popup

yTimer
$0 - Spacejock Software

This program lets you set up a number of countdown timers, with an audio alert and a popup window when the countdown reaches zero. Timers are specified in days/hours/minutes/seconds, and if you close the program with active timers it will automatically restart them with the correct remaining time when you reopen it. Free software from the author of the Hal Spacejock series.

Helps you write a novel

yWriter
$0 - Spacejock Software

yWriter is a free novel writing program for authors. It allows you to break your novel into chapters and scenes within chapters. You can reorder scenes using drag and drop, and you can print out a number of reports (summary, synopsis, scene list, work schedule). Gives you a running word count per scene and chapter, and the built-in editor auto-saves your work. Free software from the author of the Hal Spacejock series.

yRead will read files to you out loud

yRead2
$0 - Spacejock Software

yRead will load a plain text (TXT) or HTML file and display it in a single-column, resizable window. Then it will read the file to you out loud, using human speech. You can even get voices for other languages. Use it to listen to ebooks, your own writing or any other piece of text. yRead now includes a catalogue screen for the online Gutenberg archive - it will retrieve the latest catalogue, show you a sorted list of all titles and allow you to pick, download and listen to any of them. yRead includes a translation table (see the help file). This enables you to build a series of phonetic spellings so that mis-pronounced words will come out correctly. This is a fairly dumb string replace, so if you replace 'e' with 'x' you'll havx to livx with the consxquxncxs. Free software from the author of the Hal Spacejock series.
